Old Fashioned Ice Cream Trikes
Though WorkCycles is not a specialist in snack and ice-cream vending trikes, we do build them periodically. Over the years we've produced various types of ice-cream trikes. This was our first version, of which we built a few in 2004. These ice-cream bikes were certainly charming but ultimately we found this design to be impractical for the ice cream seller.
The main problem was that all commercial freezers are approximately the same height and they stand too high over the axles of the 26" wheels. This makes it very difficult to reach into the freezer to scoop the ice-cream, and kids cannot see inside to choose the flavors. In other words it was a nice idea but commercially unsucccessful.
Since then WorkCycles has developed the ice-cream vending trikes further with very low chassis that carry the freezer about as high as it would stand on its own wheels. Our latest versions might have as much old-world charm as this one... but you can still sell much more ice-cream with them!
